THE COMPANY
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an outstanding Human Resources leader to make a significant contribution to the development and growth of this well-known and highly respected engineering business. Our client is a major force in its core sectors, a prestigious £160m subsidiary of a large, multi-site UK and international Group, with a proud heritage of quality driven engineering excellence spanning several decades. With significant future growth anticipated, your focus will be around planning and creating strategies which deliver the end-to-end HR agenda, whilst contributing to the wider commercial success of the business.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the MD, and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsibilities will be as follows:-
* Provide inspirational leadership to the HR team, developing an HR strategy to achieve the organisation’s vision, mission and goals
* Manage the HR team in providing expert professional advice to colleagues across the business in all areas relating to HR and people
* Embed HR practices that drive people and performance excellence, collaborating with key stakeholders to achieve business objectives
* Forge strong relationships with senior managers and Trade Union representatives to drive a positive and cohesive working environment
* Create and oversee the plan for diversity, equality and inclusion that aligns with company values, business strategy and commitments
* Work in collaboration with colleagues across the wider Group in establishing best in class HR practices and governance
* Oversee staff training, development and performance review plans, which support continuous development for all employees
THE PERSON
This role requires an outstanding, high integrity HR professional – ideally with CIPD or degree in HR Management or equivalent – and with a track record of leading an HR function in an engineering or manufacturing environment where trade unions are a feature. You may already be an experienced HRD, or perhaps an ambitious, “up and coming” Head of HR looking for your next exciting career step. Either way, your expertise will be as follows:-
* Leading the HR conversation across a large, diverse organisation, delivering on all aspects of HR business partnering
* Excellent knowledge of developing HR strategies, coupled with first class commercial and financial awareness
* Experienced in working in a unionised environment, leading constructive employee and industrial relations engagement
* Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and in developing a positive people strategy across the company
* A strong communicator, adept at building relationships and influencing across the business
* Results focused, proactive and resilient with the enthusiasm and ambition to deliver great HR outcomes
