Copernicus Data Processing Systems Engineer

EUMETSAT is Europe's meteorological satellite agency - monitoring the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We are currently looking for an experienced Data Processing Systems Engineer, with space sector experience , to join our international team of young and inspiring engineers and industry professionals, tasked with driving innovation within the Space, Satellite and Earth Observation sector, specifically on the EU's Earth observation 'Copernicus programme'.

This role is rooted in the mission of EUMETSAT and will provide the opportunity to work with leading IT, Space and Earth Observation organisations and domain experts to make a positive impact on society!

Within the Data Processing Systems and Applications Competence Area of the Satellite Systems Ground Segment (SGS) Division, the Copernicus Data Processing Engineer will provide engineering and technical support to the design, development, verification and validation of the Copernicus data processing systems used to provide near real time products to EUMETSAT user community.

The Copernicus Data Processing team is composed of very skilled and talented people that are dealing with the latest technologies (current and future state of the art) applicable for data processing systems in space activities. The team will face and resolve very challenging projects where thinking out of the box is essential and bringing innovative ideas is mandatory.

Aufgaben What you'll be doing

Coordinate system engineering activities for EUMETSAT's Sentinel 3 (S3) Marine Payload Data Processing system (PDP) during its whole lifecycle (requirements, design, integration, validation and finally maintenance) in collaboration with cross-functional internal teams using S3 PDP.
Identify optimisation opportunities and promote innovation within the engineering team, by staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies aiming to improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of EUMETSAT ground segments
Management of industrial contract through SLA and KPI, including technical coordination with external maintenance service providers
Support your managers and colleagues in proposing long-term plans and roadmaps to harmonise Data Processing Systems engineering, maintenance and evolutions across all satellite systems exploited by EUMETSAT.
Profil Requirements:

Qualifications

A university degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering or another relevant discipline.

Skills and Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering of Data Processing Systems following well established processes, covering the full development lifecycle and using relevant technical standards (e.g. ECSS, CCSDS, OGC);
Competence in the area of Data Processing Systems Verification &Validation (V&V) activities;
Ability to manage complex tasks with minimum supervision, including planning and prioritisation of activities, monitoring and reporting;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to apply these to a team environment while working within a matrix structure;
Experience in the management of industrial contracts in relevant area will be considered an advantage;
