Pricing Manager

Hybrid role: 2 days a week in clients Warwick offices

Role:

The Pricing Manager will lead a high performing team of pricing analysts, who are responsible for the pricing strategy, price setting and price communication to customers.

The role holder will be responsible for the effective management of pricing and discount strategies across all product categories, through robust pricing processes, tactical pricing initiatives and technology adoption. All pricing activities will be overseen by the Pricing Manager within a central pricing function, ensuring a clear focus remains on optimising profit margin.

They will play a critical role working in close collaboration with Sourcing, Supply Chain and The Sales departments, to leverage market intelligence to make optimal pricing decisions, and improve the salesforce effectiveness. The role holder will be pivotal within the Commercial function, by providing expert support on pricing and segmentation projects, partnering with Business Development on tactical growth initiatives and clearly articulating pricing performance to SLT members.

This person will be highly competent in analysing data sources, to explore trends, insights and market intelligence and can turn these into profitable actions. They will need the ability to apply statistical analysis to explore price elasticity and be competent using data workflows and data visualisation tools.

Accountabilities

* Create a high performing Pricing Team, ensuring the right skillsets are in place and promote a culture of best practice, innovation, and team development.

* Lead the development and implementation of the pricing strategy, underpinned by innovative data and analytics combined with commercially sound judgment on price decisions.

* Contribute to the business strategy as a key member of the wholesale commercial function.

* Play a critical role in the ongoing development of pricing tools, through adopting technologies such as SQL, Alteryx and Power BI and ensuring a focus on price elasticity and statistical analysis.

* Be the project manager on key value drivers for growth, such as pricing and segmentation initiatives.

* Ensure strategic pricing rules are applied where applicable, but always looking to innovate.

* Ensure effective management of pricing and discount strategies across all business units and all product categories, challenge the commercial effectiveness of decision making to optimise margin.

* Create a pricing forum, where cross functional groups can understand the commercial performance through pricing activity and provide a platform for them to challenge decisions.

* Work collaboratively across sourcing and supply, to develop ‘buy-side’ and ‘sell-side’ connectivity, so challenges from all perspectives can be worked through positively to deliver the optimal business outcome.

* Define the pricing policies and guidelines for ongoing management and governance.

* Create robust processes for price communication to customers, through use of technology and automation.

* Have a good understanding of customer purchasing behaviour, especially around digital methods /commerce/portals, to ensure pricing strategies align with segmentation and profitable growth is maximised by segment.

* Monitor core KPIs to ensure optimal pricing decisions are being made, whilst reviewing exceptions and creating accountability for managing the margin.

* Take ownership of customer pricing queries and ensure that they are led to a satisfactory conclusion.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

Essential

A degree or a professional certification in a related subject e.g. Mathematics, Economics, Finance or Data & Analytics.

Previous roles in Pricing or Commercial teams

Experience using Alteryx or other analytics automation platforms.

Strong capabilities in SQL.

Competent in Excel and data visualisation software such as PowerBI or Tableau.

First class analytical and data visualisation skills.

Experience of using large volumes of data.

Data driven, confident in using multiple analytic tools and experienced in creating and running reports and using them to track success.

Strong leadership and can inspire and motivate a team of analysts.

Great commercial acumen, financial skills, and creativity.

Understands the importance of strong internal networks and has the interpersonal skills to build networks quickly.

Strong communication skills, both orally and through presentation materials with the capability to engage confidently and competently at all levels of the organisation.

Acute attention to detail.

Understands the importance of long-term strong customer relationships for growth, while delivering short term objectives.

Understanding of customer insight and experience.
